Artist patronage has been around for over 4,000 years, supporting artists like Da Vinci and Michelangelo and shaping the world of art as we know it. Over the decades it has evolved… and greatly dwindled. Now, wealthy people are more interested in luxury and extravagance than choosing an artist or scientist to support. These days, artist are more often swindled, asked to work for free, and undervalued than they are supported.
As an environmental artist, there are a lot of things I would like to do with my art. I’d like to be able to donate profits from my work to environmental organizations. I’d like to participate in research residencies, or volunteer for wildlife conservation efforts while seeking inspiration. And as much as I love drawing your pets, I would love to be able to devote myself to drawing what I’m inspired to draw (a long, ever-growing list) instead of constantly taking pet portrait commissions to survive.
If you’re a lover of art, an environmentalist, or both, please consider carrying on the legacy of the patrons of the golden age of art! For as little as the cost of one coffee a month, you can support both the arts and environmentalism, and allow me to bloom as an artist and fulfill my goals and dreams of helping conserve and protect our beautiful natural world.
Thank you for your support, it means the world to me!
